I don't think in this age a backup QB can come in and take over for a guy like Goff. He has a year of the O under his belt, anyone we get will come in new to the system. I know RGIII was with McVay, but IMO McVay has made the O his own compared to the skins teams he was with.
We need a backup for sure, but it is still very important that if Goff does get hurt it is not of a major injury that keeps him out 2,3 or more games.
A backup IMO is a guy who basically manages the team, kinda keeps things to a minimum of mistakes for just short periods of time. They very rarely take over the team for a real period of time and good things happen. To come in for a series or 2, or maybe a half, and at worst a game or 2 game. To me that is what to expect of a backup QB.
