Option 1: "We're going to play our starters for 2 or 3 series. You look around the league, that's pretty much what every team does with their second preseason game. Heck, go back 5 or 10 years and that's almost universally what you see. They all do that for a reason -right? We've looked at all the available data and run countless scenarios and for this team, this season, this is the best course of action to get us where we want to go. We did it a little different last year, we might even change it up again next year. But for the 2018 Rams we, as an organization, see this as the best path to success. So we're doing it."
I'll start: give me Option 2 every time.
I'm not about to question the Rams' coach. I'm a fan, so I don't think I have an adequate understanding to critique his managing of a football game or of the Rams' players. I do know that have an intuitive trust in him and that my intuition usually does not lead me astray.
