The Saints weren't going to pay both Michael Thomas and Cooks and the Patz show up with a 1st round pick.

The Patz use him for a year but then he's coming up on an extension which was going to be 16 M, and then they get a chance to get their 1st round pick back.

Cooks does fit with Goff and McVay, especially since McV wants a west coast DeSean in his arsenal.
