I can see wanting to reduce injury risk to starters.
I can see “resting” older players such as Whit and Sully.
But Geez, what about the fans that paid full price for tickets to watch in person? And other fans watching on TV across the country? Don’t they deserve at least ONE darned series with starters in there?
And isn’t it much more difficult to evaluate backups when the backups are surrounded by other backups? Especially when our 2’s are going against their 1’s. Think about it.
I love McVay, but I do think that he goes overboard with his no-starter policy. Surely there must be a happy medium somewhere in between.
If this keeps up, we might as well have the league go to a no PS game season. Just have 20 danged regular season games. Kind of a jungle season where only the strongest and healthiest survive.
Gawd! Not even one series for 20 of our starters? On National TV? Even the scrimmages have starters playing. Sigh.
