Dude lives in the OC just an hour down the road. Since the team is practicing in Irvine, there's no reason not to meet with him to gauge his interest in coming out of retirement. He'll be local; won't be required to take a full season's worth of punishment (if at all); and, can serve as a mentor to another Cali QB who was in a similar situation as he when he came out of USC. And I would think that McVay's offense (and the Ram WR's) would be intriguing to Palmer.
