Yes, we know nothing, so the assumptions we make automatically say more about our own perspective than they do about the Rams.
Since we know nothing, or just the vaguest bit of it, all of the following statements could be equally true or equally false and given how little we know at this moment, we cannot determine which is which. SO if someone makes one of these assumptions, they're only just telling us about their own assumptions, and maybe even their bias.
I will put a couple of these in jokey ways just to lighten the mood
* Donald is being forced by tough Rams negotiators to give up his plans of world domination and has repentantly come to his senses.
* The Rams woke up and realized you can't lowball and then hope to tag one of the best players in your history as a franchise
* All of the parties involved watched a good film about the Cuban Missle crisis and so decided not to go nuclear
Or, my favorite
* They were negotiating from 2 different positions all along and were always going to work toward compromise
I like the last one the best and think it explains things, but then I STILL DON'T KNOW, and so that's still mostly an assumption
