I don't know if Snead or Demoff are wired that way, but at this point what Donald is doing amounts more to a tantrum than actually trying something constructive, even logical, to reach an agreement. He can gain nothing from continuing to hold out. The Rams know this. And by now the Rams also know they have a suitable SuperStar replacement in the dominant Suh. So they're no worse off than they were last year when it comes to the Dline.
The best thing for the Rams is to do nothing. Remove the offer. Fine him as per the CBA. Let him know he will play for the contract price this year (less the fines) or not at all. They are willing to negotiate when the season ends, but they will Tag him if they can't come to an agreement. And they are willing to do the same for 2020.
If he is willing to hold his breath until his face turns blue.....fine. But after he returns to consciousness he will report. Donald will report even if it is a game or two into the season. He just won't throw nearly $7 mil down the drain knowing that while he can get tag money next year, without a new deal that's the best he can hope for since the Rams still control the situation. And if he wants to sit out again, so be it.....again.
He is going to be irrelevant once the Rams start playing, the D stuffs opponents, the Rams O scores points by the bucketful, and they are moving towards the Superbowl.
