and everyone appears to be enjoying them to the fullest, that they've prolonged them for almost a year and a half.
Because they're going so well!
It's clearly a tough negotiation.
But the point is, they are not acrimonious or negative. That means both sides want it to work.
That doesn't make them easy.
Look at Donald. He played for 3+ M last year even though it had nothing to do with reporting to chalk up an accrued season, because he had already missed that deadline. Why report at all then? And in 14 games he led the league in qb pressures even though one metric shows he faced multiple blockers more than any other defender. That's a guy who wants to play.
And we now have 2 different people saying they're not that far apart and the negotiations are not tense or bitter behind the scenes
I completely understand all that, but then I never take either the "it's the Rams hanging this up/it's Donald + his agents that are holding this up" line on this issue. To me this is just an unusually challenging negotiation and if I had to guess, I would say that's on both sides though they are
also apparently coming closer. I don't see any contradiction there. I think it can be both things.
In fact right now, until I hear something that's very different, I find that whole picture completely believable.
