Listen to Wade talking about the Donald/Suh combo: "Middle pressure [on the quarterback] – we’re going to be No. 1 there with him and Donald. They’re not ready for those two guys.”

That sounds pretty gung-ho to me.

Does that sound like a situation where the Rams believed they could never bridge a 4 M difference in negotiations and so intended to replace him? In fact as said previously, wouldn't it be ironic to spend 15 M on Suh because they thought they would be resistant to paying 2-3 M more a year to Donald? Not sure that would be the smartest approach to cap control.

No, it sounds to me like Wade wants to and expects to field both guys.

Of course maybe no one tells poor clueless Wade anything and they just let him babble on like that.

My feeling, though, is that they jumped on the opportunity to field both players.

IF worse unexpectedly came to worse is he a replacement for Donald? Well he would not be as good as Donald at the same role, but, that's a possibility.

But I think their intention was to pair them, and take full advantage of what that means.

I don't see it as a situation where either of these 2 equal but opposite hypothetical scenarios plays out--(1) they know Donald is not interested in signing and is just being greedy, or (2) they know that as a front office they are not going to do make a fair offer Donald will sign.

In other words, I don;t think they anticipated not being able to sign him. I also of course think they will sign him. These are experienced negotiators. They know that a 4 M difference is not massive and unbridgeable.

...

....

We agree that AD and Suh will be playing together this year.

And we agree that that was probably the plan all along.

And we agree that it could be devastating for opposing O’s.

This DL, including the oft under-appreciated Brockers, could be the talk of the town, and league, by October. Can’t wait.
