If the league was blackmailing the safety position which is pretty ludicrous if one needs a safety the rams must have missed the memo as they add pent quite a bit on a safety in lieu of a wr. In retrospect they could have tagged Watkins and signed Joyner to a modest deal since safeties were blackballed.
I love a good conspiracy story, but this one is pretty out there.
Although I think Reid did himself no favors by his constant protest.....he didn't catch a clue when he saw what happened to his buddy Kap???
Teams don't want distractions....it's not a conspiracy, it's a simple fact.
The other safeties out there on the market right now aren't getting the offers they thought they would, it happens sometimes especially if you're not a star.
Interesting thing. In situations like this, there;s always a few good reporters with team contacts who will talk with team coaches and execs and officials, often off the record. They will have news on why a certain position is seen a certain way.
"Why is there no interest in FA safeties." And there's an answer.
This year? Nothing like that. At all. There is no buzz whatsoever on what happened to the safety market in free agency. Even the stuff you say isn't based on anything, it's just you making things up at the keyboard. The point being, normally, there would be well-grounded buzz about something like this, based on reporters hearing things from teams. Okay. Where is it?
No it's not usual for an entire position to get neglected like this even after free agency is essentially over and teams shop for bargains. Nothing is happening.
As conspiracy theories about the NFL go, this is the only plausible one I've heard in a long time.
...
Talk about "making things up on a keyboard"
Who are these amazing players that have been blacklisted? Reid may have a case, the rest?
No one said amazing. In fact that's a strawman. Name the last time good players at one position were left out like this even after the market went down and everyone is a bargain.
And the argument is this. Because they know Reid will sue for collusion (which he is) then no safeties were signed, which lowers the case for collusion.
Meanwhile it;s unusual that an entire position go dry like this, and no one has a better explanation as to why it happened.
