When he says this, I don't believe him:
“I’m not focused on wealth,” Joyner said.
I like the guy. I hope we can sign him to a long term contract. I hope he can stay healthy.
I get it's his last chance for a big contract. But all he is has to do is look at some of the safeties this year to see how tough the market can be.

I listened to an analyst on the radio (sorry, don't know who) who was saying that safeties get beat up and have a short shelf life and that it's risky to sign them to a big second contract. Also the hard-hitters have a narrowing future if they keep changing the rules to protect offensive players.
My view is he has already experienced two kinds of coaches. Clearly he is now playing for a coach and in a scheme where he excels. He's surrounded by very good defensive players on a good team. This year is probably going to be his highest paid year. With his history of being dinged up, I think it's in his best interest to sign an extension. As a fan, who hopes he stays healthy, I would like him to sign before the July 16th deadline. He'll probably get more money over his career if he does that.
There's a good chance that what happened to the safety market this year was a form of collusion aimed at Reid.
