My only question: does playing dime (or nickle for that matter) make the Rams easy to run on?
Good question, AlbaNY.
Conventional wisdom tells us that the nickel and the dime are to prevent passing, rather than running attacks.
I’ve got a question. Doesn’t it seem reasonable to expect our opponents to be playing from behind a great deal, given our projected high scoring O? And, if that’s the case, wouldn’t these opponents be forced to pass more than they would prefer in order to try to catch up? Thus, the nickel and the dime.
Also, if the Rams play their base 3-4 D on first down, doesn’t it seem reasonable that our opponents will often find themselves in 2nd and long, forcing yet another passing attempt (or two)?
We saw a ton of nickel and dime last year, Wade’s first here. I think that it’s a safe bet that we will see even more this year with the additions of Suh, Talib, and Peters.
