I was tempted when I first started weight training in college but never had the easy access or money to buy them which is what you call 'luck in circumstances'. That was in the 80's and even then some of the negative health effects were well documented.
You'd look through the pages of Muscle and Fitness and some of the guys were selling themselves as 'natural' bodybuilders. We all knew that just meant they hadn't gotten a positive test result back!
