Of course its relevant.
It's important to understand just how much money these football guys make as compared to a Dr. or Lawyer, or better a school teacher, a cop, a truck driver, or a small business owner.

$30 mil per year is staggering. And for some of the better known football stars, that's only the beginning. They get huge dollars for endorsements.

The lowest base wage an NFL player can make is $450K !!

And for this they need a union, with a militant leader, who threatens war upon their employers?

Every one of these NFL players is a one percenter. Every one of them who protests against social injustice and the flag of the greatest nation ever to exist do it from a position of privilege and wealth that 99% of football fans can never imagine. The ones who compare their multi-million dollar NFL contracts to slavery are the epitome of hypocrisy.

I don't begrudge the players their money. But I do begrudge the poor attitude and entitlement mentality that many have.
And yes, it is relevant in American society today to point out the enormous gap between the average wage earner and these wealthy players. And why no NFL player has earned an ounce of sympathy when it comes to how much he's being paid.
