I think the running game is back in vogue.

For a period of time, RBs were not selected at the top of the draft. That has ended.

The player everybody wants is the guy we have...Todd Gurley. He can run inside/out, block, and in support of your point on the pass game, be an excellent receiver. That's why all this talk of letting a 23 year old Gurley go in a couple years (when he'll be a whopping 25) is foolish to me.

This game is still a 55/45 pass to run league for the most part. Even if it's 60/40, 40% is big. An effective running game is something teams are looking at more and more. Ask Drew Brees. Having a multi dimensional back, gives a coach like McVay options to disguise looks/ plays on offense.

Why is running the ball in vogue...why do teams want to run the ball? Because if they don't, it's likely the QB isn't going to last the season. OCs know it...HCs know it. DCs know it.

If you can't stop the run, the thing you will stop is your Super Bowl run.

Tell Vita Vea that the era of the 330lb DT is gone. And watch the RBs come off the board...there are many options this year and I'm betting you'll see a "run" on them in day 2.

"Stopping the run" should no longer be the priority for NFL defenses.
