You can't just keep doing the same exact thing over and over, week after week. When they are in this formation, then they do this. When it's 3rd and 14, they run the deep out...ect.
It's the NFL.......Not Pop Warner.
McVay has shown the ability to as the OC to have a new "wrinkle" each week. Plus, he knows that basic fundamental football actually "works" as well. Screens and Draws work great with #30. But, change it up with a nice out and up to #30 as well.
This offense did not get to be #1 in the NFL without changing it up to keep the defense guessing. McVay and Co. do a very good job of changing it up.
