Go to the 11:04 mark.
"JUST GOT IT AWAY!" Talking about the play clock. Most embarrassing moment of the season.
And to go 0-6 when trailing at the start of the 4th quarter and than the offensive point totals being so poor when needing to score and score quickly.
I look at simply, the team can't function on offense when urgency is required and scores are needed quickly late in the game.
The NFL typically scores tons of points in the 4th quarter and normally you score more when trailing. The opposing defense wears down and typically plays more conservative giving you yards with that silly prevent defense, but consider this:
1) Losing against Washington 20-17 and lose 27-20.
Scored 3 points
2) Losing against Seattle 13-10 and lose 16-10.
Scored 0 points
3) Tie against Vikings 7-7 and lose 24-7. Once the Rams fell behind it was a complete debacle.
Scored 0 points
4) Losing against eagles 31-28 and lose 43-35.
Scored 7 points, but this was the worst game of the bunch.
5) Tie 20-20 against Tennessee and win 27-23
Scored 7 points and amazingly 7 points equals, this is the one game that was a win, although it was a tie going into the 4th quarter instead of trailing and urgency wasn't as great since it was a tie.
6) Losing 27-6 against 49ers and lose 34-13.
Scored 7 points - I get that this was a throw away game and can't read to much into it.
7) Losing 19-10 against Falcons and lose 26-13.
Scored 3 points
The numbers above tell a big story.
If the team is behind and urgency is needed, while most teams scored more, this team scored less, and I would say considerably less given this was one of the top 5 offenses in the NFL throughout the year for the first 3 quarters and when playing with the lead.
Sorry, I can't get over this. JUST GOT IT AWAY.
