A top Edge is needed to basically finish Wade’s D, assuming an ILB comes by the second pick in the 4th round. The good news is that such players will reportedly be there at those picks.
Technically, Whit and Sully are under contract through ‘19, although we all realize that their bodies may not permit them to complete their contracts at a high enough level of play.
What to do? Well, here is where a coach like Kromer is worth his weight in gold. He chose not to draft an OL player last year and it worked out quite well. My point is that they should listen to his advice about players on our current bench, plus his opinion about OL players that may become FA by cutdown day, plus his opinions regarding OL players in this draft. Whatever he suggests should probably become our OL strategy.
Myself, I like both Brown and Hav and would be happy to keep both beyond this year if they’re gonna be reasonable, but it’s Kromer’s opinion that counts.
Extending Saffold would be another strong move, IMO. In fact, I would try to do it this year, if possible.
One way or another they must devote resources to the OL over the next two seasons, no question. Like I said, it’s gonna be tricky.
Of course, they know this better than we do. Wonder what their strategy is.
