I disagree that either was overpaid. That's how the market works.
The free agent market is much like an auction. Eventually everyone but the top bidder is going to bail but the final number is what it is because the other parties bid up the price to that level.
You say sign your core but that's exactly what I'm saying is the difficult issue.
If they traded for OBJ, presumably Goff, Gurley, Donald, Peters, and OBJ would be part of the core.
I don't think they can retain all of them.
