Ndamukong Suh Contract Offer 'Rescinded' by Jets Amid Rams, Titans Rumors

New York Jets CEO Christopher Johnson confirmed the team rescinded its contract offer to free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Sunday.
According to SNY.tv's Ralph Vacchiano, Johnson justified the decision by saying signing Suh "wasn't in keeping with our long-term plan."
Johnson said he didn't have a role in the decision-making process that led the Jets to initially offer Suh a deal, per The Athletic's Connor Hughes. The team reversed course after Johnson and general manager Mike Maccagnan discussed the matter.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday the Jets had made the biggest offer to Suh among those teams interested, but that is now off the table. Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 reported Thursday the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams were among the contenders to land the five-time Pro Bowler.
Suh remains unsigned despite what was a solid 2017 season. He finished the year with 48 combined tackles and 4.5 sacks.
That isn't too surprising, though, given the way his Miami Dolphins tenure unfolded. Suh failed to live up to the expectations set by his record-setting six-year, $114 million contract, and at 31, he's on the wrong end of the aging curve.
Still, Suh is by far the biggest name available at his position, so he'll have a new home sooner rather than later.
