About where you'll find not only superb role players in the world, but also starters that aren't drafted among the some 250 players that are selected.
I find it hard to believe that only 250 players among countless larger numbers that have been playing the game can be elite.
Sure. there's a lot of science, study, and hard work, along just naturally given talent that allow scouts to define the blue chips, premium, and "high ceilings."
I guess getting a righteous chance plays enormously.
Being healthy, getting reps, scheme fit, not letting the moment be too big: And not unrelated, digestion of the pro playbook.
And yet, every year we see guys come off the street and do great things.....
and we can site plenty of players that have succeeded at an elite level that were UDFA.
But, perhaps, the ones to most celebrate or recognize for their value are the ones that just don't flash for two years; It's the ones that have sustained success that are not only elite players for their position, but change their entire team where ever they've landed over the course of their career.
While we can all cheer the Kurt Warner moment the guy I always seem to get stuck on is
London Fletcher.
Not only the hard way in. Had to win his spot over the summer over 2 other guys, but once he was in had to continue to kill it.
And even when the coach had some weird "bump" on his personality, went on to play some 14 years? And most of all, the kind of guy that was the glue to his unit. That minus him the guys around him were a lesser group.
So, I like to think that after reading, and studying, then witnessing what our draftniks here point to every years as the "sleepers" succeed, that our GM will snag yet another one of those success stories. Hey. Maybe a trio of them !!!
