it's not who replaces Watkins, it's how

I don't think it's an either/or scenario. And I don't think they will try to replace Watkins production/threat with one guy.

Assuming Austin makes the team, he would probably remain in the role he had- as more of a backup RB, end-around WR, and maybe they develop a handful of plays in the passing game where he can be effective.

Reynolds was always going to be toward the bottom of their depth chart last year. Yet he did show up well in preseason (4 catches, 91 yards, 2 TDs) and in the three games when Woods was out he caught 8 passes. He can have a bigger role in 2018. That role is simply not "being Sammy Watkins" though.

Last, I think McVay wants more out of the TE spots this year as well. 49 catches combined is less than half what the TEs averaged in Washington in each of his three seasons there. I'm sure he wants that number to be higher.

So I don't think it's WHO replaces Watkins. No one will. It's how. And to me the answer is several ways.
