For one thing, if you factor AD;s current contract in, it's not 30 M, it's nearly or around 37 M. You have to factor that in because it;s current contract will get absorbed into any extension.
About 6 M of that has to go to draft picks, and about 2 M has to go to a cap buffer to sign injury replacements during the season. There's the practice squad too but I forget how much that is.
So let's say it;s about 27 M give or take. '
They can sign AD by giving him some of it in 2018, then parking a huge guaranteed hit in 2019. Let's say the 2018 portion of that is 17 M.
That leaves around 10 M, give or take, which makes Suh a tight squeeze. If he;'s interested in taking that little, that is.
They can also cut someone else too, like Barron. That would make it easier.
Personally, though, I am betting against them wanting Suh and/or against Suh signing with them.
