In other words the author is asking for a little imagination and or evaluation of how his skills might fit.

As I said he makes errors but I give him credit for the effort.

Suh has moved around a bit. He has, like, 4 sacks since 2012 from DE. He has about 5 from 1-tech. All the rest are from 3-tech,

The key is base defense. Suh has a strength advantage against most NFL guards. He has longer arms than probably 99% of them and he hustles. And even so he averages 7.5 stuffs and 6.5 sacks a year which is good.

Against a tackle, in a 3-4 defense, he loses the strength and length advantage since some of the tackles will have more strength and length than most guards. Not every case, but in general. So, when he tries some of those moves, it's fair to ask will they be as seamless, will 8 years of working on his trade immediately translate to playing against bigger, stronger, taller players in the run game?

If he were to play shade, he's going to, by formation get doubled much of the time and Suh has never excelled versus double teams. The first few years in Detroit, he's try to spin out of them and get turned which is part, not all, but part of the reason the Lions gave up 4.5, 5.0, 4.5 yards a carry his first three years.
So, that is why I don't think he fits as a NT.

So, when I talk about not being a "fit" it is in base defense, in the one gap 3-4, not the nickel. In nickel, he'd be an inside rusher, same as he;s always been

We use to talk about his play in run defense in Detroit a lot and how he would get turned on dt's, but je was doubled as much as any dt in football..

But I agree with you in your assertion on Suh vs tackles not only in most cases will he lose that length advantage but he doesn't exactly have a full toolbox of pass rush moves, so he would be at a disadvantage there.

Looking at him more closely I do think he could play the 5 and spell Donald at the 3 tech.

But he was born to shade a guard.

.

Best,
