I suspect that if the Rams want to send a message to Donald that there is life after AD for the Rams, they won't say a thing to AD or his agent and will just let them stew.
However if their intent is to kick the tires as Suh as a possible addition to the Rams Dline with no effect on Donald, I imagine they had to have called Donald and his agent to reassure them of their commitment to him.
I don't know about making Donald mad but a reasonable inference one could possibly take from this is, maybe the Rams aren't close to signing Donald to an extension. The sides may be pretty far apart.
If you're gonna use the franchise tag for a couple of years, who cares what AD thinks?
Besides, any deal would likely be very short term.
And he may not be as expensive as you suspect. I don't know what Vinny is hearing but he suggested that Suh's price tag is lower than expected, maybe in the Sheldon Richardson range.
