We they perfect? No. Did they contribute...absolutely! You also lose leadership. Who fills the void?
They're spinning it now but I said since they moment they made the trade that they made a mistake and rethought it. Nothing else makes sense.
I don't think AO sucked, I think he's average. They can get average without spending money. And since Wade only asks his MIKE to be good at stopping the run, they can get a rookie who excels in that skill set in the mid rounds of the draft.
I don't disagree with you that rookies often take some time but my point wasn't even about rookies. It was that young players already on the rostre - Ebukam, Littleton, Longacre - have already shown well and arguably as well as the vets they replace.
