They talk about getting off blocks, but shouldn't quickness and strength be more important to avoiding getting blocked out of a play than an extra 15-20 lbs of weight?
I just wonder if this is one of those things we have heard and we just repeat it without questioning it.
AD is undersized as a DT but is pretty much considered unblockable.
a ILBer can be big but if he doesn't have the skills to shed a block, it;s a problem. AO was big enough, but not huge, but he had problems getting off blocks. Navarro Bowman is what, 230? And he's excellent.
But with Barron, his issue, IMO, was technique, not able to use his hands to get off blocks quickly enough and maybe it is more a lack of experience or instincts. Who knows, maybe if he were to have another year he'll be better at ILB. But IMO, he was excellent in 2015 out OLBer, knifed through and made tackles, many of them behind the LOS.
In 2016 he was not as good and in 2017 it was about the same as 2016. Maybe 2015 was just a freak anomoly and he was just playing out of his mind andn one of this is about size. Maybe he's just not as good as his 2015 indicated
