Ryan Kartje@Ryan_KartjeSnead said Aaron Donald’s interior pass rush ability helps mitigate the need for edge rushers, but, reading between the lines, it sure seems like that’s the position where the Rams will most urgently look to add players.]
Rich Hammond@Rich_HammondSnead said the Rams talked with Aaron Donald's representatives at the combine and called talks "productive" but wouldn't share a timetable and indicated he didn't know if Donald would show for the optional offseason program.
Asked about Tavon Austin, Snead said, “Check back tomorrow.” Said Rams have been in communication with Tavon’s agent.
Snead's quote was, "We're in talks with Tavon. It could go a few ways." Presumably, the top two ways are an outright release or a restructure, and I have no idea what the financial implications of the latter would be right now.
Joe Curley@vcsjoecurleySnead also seemed to insinuate that if the Rams had to go into the season with Troy Hill as a starter at cornerback, they would have been a lot more comfortable with that situation than you might think.
Snead said that Ogletree was “sacrificed” so that the Rams could have two top-notch corners. Without the Talib deal, Ogletree is still a Ram
When the Rams agreed to trade Alec Ogletree to the Giants, Ogletree was in the facility working out.
“If we were starting Troy Hill, I'm sure on the outside looking in, it would be ‘The Rams are weak at corner.’ But, down the stretch last year, he was playing as good a corner as we had.
Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiryLes Snead says the Rams will not be able to replace Sammy Watkins with one person. They'll change formations, and look to young receivers Josh Reynolds and Michael Thomas and the draft.
