From what I know of football, it seems Wade is probably comfortable committing more resources/players to stop the run if he is confident his guys can hold up in coverage with less support.
Saban, from his days with Cleveland, spoke about how Pittsburgh defeated their defense. Saban ran a cover three, which puts eight men in the box. Pittsburgh attacked the seams with 4 vertical routes and forced Saban to chose how he would lose. If he went man and committed help to stop the run Cleveland could not cover the Pittsburgh receivers. If he went with more pass defense they could not stop the run.
