its that simple... a case can be made that the injuries and QB/ocoordinator in Buffalo hurt him and last year with the Rams he came in late and never really fit in
Now... IMO legitimate arguments can be made to support the KC decision and he is only 24 years old
The Rams chose not to go there and with everything coming down the pike I get it... but I would have liked them to franchise him and take a 1 year chance on him
I'm over it... I'm not going to dwell on it but yeah i think they could have handled it differently.

Sammy Watkins was overrated and overdrafted by the Bills in the first place. Two 1sts and a 4th? Please.
Chiefs got caught up in their emotions and overpaid for him just now. How else to explain $16 million per and $30 million guaranteed for Watkins based upon his actual results. Heck, I don’t think he ever fully grasped McVay’s O, tbh.
I don’t blame him for taking the offer, mind you. Who wouldn’t?
S&M gambled and lost. That 2nd would have been nice in this draft, although the Gaines loss was of minimal impact. Water under the bridge. Watkins just wanted to be “the man” and knew that that would never be possible in this O. End of story.
I’ll say this. S&M are bold movers and thinkers. They took us from 4-12 to 11-5 in their first year. Can’t do that by always being timid. Sometimes bold moves pay off, sometimes they bite you in the butt. They made the right call here by refusing to meet Watkins demands.
I’ll accept the occasional butt bite in exchange for hits like Whit, Woods, Sully, NRC, Peters, Talib, Joyner, and Johnson. Among others.
On to FA and the draft!
