Personally I think Reynolds has the ability to be both a deep threat and red zone target. I think back to this play in preseason, for example.
Josh Reynolds preseason TDAnd this vs. the Saints from Goff:
Josh Reynolds 1st career TDNow can he become more than that? More than a situational player? Maybe not. Won't command the attention defensive scheme-wise that Watkins did by any means. But really, what they need him to be is an effective situational player. He jumps well, good speed, tracks the ball well. Probably will have trouble vs. press CBs. But he would be attracting team's 3rd CB so he could win some of those matchups.
He does get the chance to develop with Goff all offseason and camp. This kid is not going to be Sammy Watkins. But I do think he can take a step up this year and be an effective WR3 who could triple his 11 receptions from a year ago. I would like to see him add 6-8 lbs. of muscle to that frame.
