Remember this day: when Gurley looks like he lost a step, Woods and Kupp take longer to get open and last but not least our line got old over one year, Sammy did a lot for this team that you can not quantify, having a fast receiver means nothing you need a threat to take the top off the D on every play.
Bingo. My first thought after reading this was: They're gonna start Woods AND Kupp? Cornerbacks will cheat on both.
I'm sorry but last year Watkins was a one trick pony. All they had to do was take away that trick and he was JAG. He wasn't clever so as a CB you didn't have to worry about him disguising his in play intentions.
Defenses will cheat on a player no matter what. It's the Rams job to keep them off balance. They did that all year.
You're close, except defenders will take many more liberties with a receiver who is less of a threat to run by them. They have to stay much more honest when guessing wrong can lead to a quick six.
Scheme can only go so far; an offense also needs to have the THREAT that it can score at any time. Having a player like Watkins even on the field gives you that.
And, no, Tavon Austin is not that guy, and Reynolds and Thomas both have average speed.
The Rams have a problem that needs to be taken seriously.
