If that is indeed the thinking, I cannot imagine the Rams not signing a free agent MLB. They may still draft a MLB for the future, but I can't imagine they will let a rookie make all the defensive calls.

They may just simply not have the cap space to do that plus extend Donald plus pay for their draft picks plus sign some of their key lower budget UFAs, RFAs, and ERFAs. Let alone sign Watkins.
Plus with Littleton on board, it looks like their priorities are not MLB, but OLB/edge and NT.
