i could understand keeping him under the franchise tag for one more year since it seems we do have the $ and it is not a long term investment. this would ensure the O does not take steps backwards assuming the o line remains healthy.
so i would only be annoyed if the rams signed him to a long term deal in excess of $50 million.
i thought the rams would extend Joyner and franchise Sammy, but maybe Joyner is playing hardball and now the rams are just deciding to tag him instead of Sammy and let Watkins walk.
