The owners have all the aces in the whole.
Just because you or others think the players make a lot of money, the owners who don't get their brains beat in make multiples more...and that's before you consider franchise value.
If the players are getting enough, the owners get more enough. Yet tickets prices, parking prices, beer prices are through the roof.
No...it's a relative situation. The players are taking all the risks...health wise especially. They also take the contract risks because there are no guaranteed contracts.
If I'm the players...I get more on first contracts, put in lucrative performance clauses on first contracts and/or shorten the exclusive negotiating rights fewer years from 4-5 years.
Most owners of a business make a ton more then their employees....it's just the way it is in every business or sport..... of course the players are risking their health, it's the price they pay to make millions playing a game thy love for a living.
It's greed by both sides that drive the prices up on game day.
These players aren't going to get much sympathy from Joe Public when it comes to these contracts when even the lowest paid players make more in one game then most people make all year.... (a low end players making $1m per year makes $62,500 a game)
It's why people can't wrap their heads around why a player who thinks $100,000,000 six year contract isn't enough....
