I think that McVay is a creative and innovative outside the box O thinker.
I think he is excellent when communicating his desires in terms of types of players wanted.
I think he was smart enough to retain Fassel and give him free rein and includes him in final cutdown decisions.
I think he was smart and self confidant enough to hire a brilliant DC in Wade and give him free rein, too. Not a lot of first time HC’s could have done that.
I think that Wade has strong ideas about the types of players needed to perfectly implement “his” D and is also able to well communicate all that to Snead.
I think that Snead and his staff do an exceptional job of finding just the right fits for what McVay and Wade have described and requested. The result is an influx of FA, draft picks, and players via trade that are impressive fits in their respective systems.
I think that the entire coaching staff excels as teachers and rapid developers of players.
The result? An amazing synergy that resulted in improving the Ram record from 4-12 to 11-5 in their first year!. Woulda been 12-4 if they played starters in last game.
This group of Snead, McVay, Wade, and Fassel is running like a well tuned and well oiled machine already. I’m excited to see the offseason moves this year.
I give a TON of credit to Demoff and Snead for the McVay hire. The single move that started this whole freight train rolling in the right direction.
