CB was my #1 concern this offseason

My assumption is that the Rams would have been forced into the FA market and would have had to make a move towards a guy like Kyle Fuller, maybe Butler. And either of those guys will be $10 mil + in FA. Or they go with stop-gap guys like Patrick Robinson at less (maybe $7 mil), but you get what you pay for.

.

Exactly, and this was my biggest concern of the offseason. All the options were bad: grossly overpay for TruJo, overspend on a mediocre FA (who still wouldn’t be as good as Trujo), or roll the dice with a rookie.

Instead, they hit a homerun with MP. All the other problems on this team are solvable, IMO.

Get a decent #2 cb, hold on to Joyner, resign Sammy or (more likely) a decent replacement, big NT, some new blood at LB and the edge, OL depth, and maybe a new TE.

But getting a #1 CB was our biggest challenge without a workable solution, and the FO just crushed it. Hallelujah.

Gaines is not a scheme fit. He's a zone corner, not press man.
