Categorizing is exactly what they should do.
Risk management. You have to assess what character risks you can live with versus those you can't.
Yada, yada yada.
Let's keep this in context.
Disruptive behavior in a team environment is disruptive behavior.
I've already listed several examples of players that exhibited like behavior that upset the chemistry of their team.
I'm not going to try and psychoanalyze the behavior.
I'm not a psychiatrist or psychologist like RamUK is evidently!
That adage applies here in your context. Even in a team environment, categorization is prudent.
All disruptive behavior in a team environment is not equal.
If you (or I) can't tell the difference, the team should hire a psychiatrist/psychologist/RamUK to make the determination.
There are other questions the team should answer.
How disruptive is the behavior? How much disruptive behavior can the team culture handle? Does the team have special resources on hand that will help them handle the disruptive behavior better than the last team? I'm sure there are many more questions...
I get your concerns but I don't think the answer is to say all disruptive behavior is equal and to just avoid it all.
