Look. I truly get both sides of the debate.
What my hope is that this will startle MP to the point that while he won't admit it out loud, inside he'll be a little more careful with his reactions and behavior.
He's being given a 2nd chance, so to speak. Quite sure his dad has told him that. Several players who currently, and in the past, play for the Chiefs said it is a very discipline-oriented organization. Not in a bad way; just that the owner wants to have a tight ship with the right image. And especially considering the market he's in, a conservative Midwest, Mom & apple pie & patriotism, etc. market, guys who act out in ways like Peters has simply won't be tolerated at any cost.
I suspect that the anthem protest had a big effect on owner. It did for me. I was ready to disconnect the NFL entirely from my life when Goodell virtually endorsed it. I'm not saying that's all it was.
Clearly MPs behavior did not hurt his football practice or his football play. But it didn't fit with the organization's image of itself.
I'm hoping for the best, because I think of all the teams in the league the Rams just might be the best fit......if there is a fit......to help deal with MPs bad behavior.
