....still on the Rams board. Do they go OT to have an heir apparent to Whitworth who was HUGE for Goff's development and time to pass, or go CB to now pair with Peters?

I say OT to get ready for when Whitworth is done...

Thoughts?

All things being equal, if you have a viable LOT and a viable CB at 23, you take the LOT.

Why? Because you can find corners after round 2. The odds of finding a left OT after round 2 are very bad.

If nothing else, that's because there are twice as many CBs on college teams as LOTs. cool smiley

I actually did the numbers on this. I looked up OTs drafted from 2006-2015 from round 3 down (that's a decade, plus stopping at 2015 gives you enough time to see how the picks worked out).

In that span there were 122 OTs drafted. Out of all of those, only SIX ended up being solid to good, continuing NFL starters at LOT.

Of the OTs drafted after round 2 in that span who actually DID make it in the NFL, most ended up as ROTs and/or guards.

Only 6 of 122 is just under 5%.

So if you want a left OT, you pretty much HAVE TO draft them in rounds 1 and 2.

Here's the data: [www.pro-football-reference.com]

In contrast here's rounds 1 & 2, same time span...I count around 25 valid continuing LOT starters out of 71 LOTs picked (that;s a very quick count on my part). That's 35%, which isn't great but it's better than (under) 5%. [www.pro-football-reference.com]

Round 1, same time span, it's closer to 50%.

If the OTs name is Jason Smith, GRob, or Alex Barron, you take the CB
