Assuming it's a tag and trade on Watkins, and that we still have our #1 after the Peters trade....
I make the trade without any second thoughts.
I like Watkins, I don't mind if we keep him, but it appears to me that unless he's the focus of the passing game his mind wanders. With Woods, Kupp, Gurley and McVay claiming he wants more TE receptions, that leave Watkins pretty much out in the cold.
Meanwhile, we improve our #1 pick and gain a second. That's a potential second starter right there. (Or our eventual starting LT) I don't know Thompson, but he sounds like the 3rd down back McVay wanted in Dunbar and tried to make out of Tavon.
A player who I'm not sure fits our offense for 2 players who do and an improved round 1? Yep, I'm making that trade.
