I’m really conflicted on this issue.
A vet such as Graham would provide instant results in McVay’s O, it’s probably true. A very desirable thing, indeed. But for how long? How many good years does Graham have left?
Then there’s the cap hit of around $10 million. What other players would that possibly cost us upgrading moves at positions such as NT, CB, LB, or WR? Tough choices.
Then there’s the need to develop our young TE’s, if possible. Lot harder to do if a vet is getting a ton of snaps. I’m bullish on Everett and Hemingway is intriguing. Both young and so inexpensive. McVay will have to make the call.
I lean away from acquiring an expensive vet TE. But only slightly since I want to win now, too.
So, I’m okay with either decision.
