And the NFL covered it up, from the Tuck Rule on.........I wonder what the impact would be. A small part of me just wants it to go away with Goodell stepping down. We will never get Super Bowl 36 back. And even if the Rams were still proclaimed SB36 Champs, it would be hollow....IMO. If the Pats were indeed proven as cheaters with the NFL's blessing, I'm not sure I could trust ANY game I see, as long as Goodell is in there.
The one reason I'd love to see the Pats busted is to shut up all the "Die hard since 2001" Pats fans who say..GET OVER IT!!! SOUR GRAPES!!! LET IT GO!!
In the mean time, I almost totally disregard SB 36. The destroyed video sealed the deal with me. IMO....Since 2001, the NFL has worked to validate the 2001 Pats. Till Brady and Bill retire, I think they will have to continue.
It would be no different than any sport where people have admitted to wrong doing. The problem is that most people, especially the majority of sports fans, are fickle.
Shaquille O'Neil talked about letting the air out of basketballs if he didn't like the grip - nary a cry from anyone; a tarp covering the field at Three Rivers stadium was cut the night before the AFC Championship game against the warm weather Raiders - it's not even remembered; a former NBA official admitted to being instructed to deliberately favor the Lakers in a game 6 matchup against the Sacramento Kings - most people don't know. I really don't think we'll see another sports team do what the Patriots have been able to do, so fans will not have such strong feelings towards teams in the future when they have some modicum of success.
