The NFL's drop in viewership is consistent with other TV programming, as cable subscriptions continue to decline. But the Nielsen data still shows that 20 of the top 30 highest-rated shows in 2017 were NFL games.

.

as noted, this drop in viewership is consistent with other TV programming.

there are more ways to watch NFL football other than on cable and/or satellite TV......about half the Rams games that I watched this season were not though my TV providers.

that is the demographic shift... there is not one thing that accounts for decline...yes, some people are getting rid of cable and only watching on internet...but some younger people are not addicted to the NFL like previous generations and some of them are only addicted because of FF

WWII generation and the next generation are dying off and not being replaced, as veiwers, at the same rate they are passing away

so, there are lots of things. 9.7 % this year and it was down 8 precent in 2016. that's around 16% over past two years.

Some of that's due to shorter attention spans IMO

95% of the dropoff is due to 1 issue only
