Spot on, Max. I'd like to expand on your quote "McVay made it clear what he was looking for" by saying that McVay would not only tell Snead what he's looking for, he'd bring up video examples to back it up. So it really made Snead's life easier, and I expect it to continue.
Only other thing to add is that Snead has "final say" whereas Fisher had it previously. Not sure when that would ever come into play, but it's worth mentioning.
You're right about final say. Though in a collaborative process that's just a technicality.
McVay helped Snead see what kinds of skill players fit his system. Phillips did the same for defenders. When they draft OL Kromer will contribute that way too. And...that's the same process as before. The way it goes is, a coach may know the kinds of players he likes but does not have the time to go through dozens of examples of college players who MIGHT fit it. Scouts scout 12 months a year, coaches scout 1 month a year.
They had a collaborative system before too. It worked before or they wouldn't have enough team-wide talent already on hand to win in year one of a new coach's era.
