many of those coaches

run the ball into the line late in the 4th quarter and punt and let other teams steal the game away from them when there is plenty of time on the clock for the opposing team to score.

I love to see a study on that game strategy as well over the years.

Teams that try to get a first down in the last 5 minutes of a game up by only one score or less versus teams that just run the 3 downs and punt. Which approach has a better outcome?

Same as basketball coaches that sit guys with foul trouble in the 2nd quarter and lose a bunch of points on the point spread vs those that maintain the momentum of the game and don't overreact and don't sit key players for long periods of time and choose maintain the point spread.

I feel you live for the moment in competition and always do your best and over the long haul, it works out better for you.
