What really got me, was that it was only 2nd down. Yes, only 26 seconds. BUT. All Russell had to do was to say in the huddle:
'I'm giving it to Lynch straight up. Whether it is a TOUCHDOWN or "NOT"..... get your asses UP, and back to the line for a spike.'
"IF" it was a TD, they win the SB, time to PARTY!
"IF" not a TD, they'd have had just enough time to spike, and one more try on 4th down. But ONLY if they got themselves moving fast to line it up, while the Refs are still trying to decide to throw their hands up or not.
What a blunder.
