McVay admits that he didn't fully use Watkins' skill set. Besides the deep routes, the one skill set they did use was Sammy on slants and other short routes in the RZ. That's how he scored several of those TDs.
Could they use that skill set in a similar manner on 3rd and short like Ari. uses Fitzgerald?
Despite the Rams having the #1 offense, they were only #9 on 3rd down conversion percentage at approx. 41%. They often became predictable with Goff relying a bit too heavily on Kupp.
How much better would the offense be on critical 3rd downs if Goff had another reliable target he could go to?
