We Rams fans have a gazillion things to be happy about this season, and for me, even if they don't make it beyond Atlanta -- they will -- I'll still view this as a great season and a major success. From hitting the jackpot on their new coach, to Gurley's phenomenal turnaround, to the great special teams play, a solid defense and a worst to first transformation of the offense . . . . it was one of the most enjoyable seasons evah.
But, if I can pick a nit here . . . I do want to see some real improvement in Goff in one specific area, and I think if he does this, the offense will be even more explosive: He needs to learn how to lead his receivers, especially when they move across the field. I noticed too many passes behind the crossing receivers, forcing them to turn back awkwardly to make the catch, and this resulted either in drops or lost RAC.
Goff's improvement from last year to this one was nothing short of amazing -- as was Gurley's, among others. But, IMO, the lack of a Warner-like lead for his receivers is a crucial area for more of that improvement. If he learns to throw consistently to his guys on the run, so they don't have to break stride, this already excellent offense will be even more explosive. It may be the thing that puts them in the GSOT range, or better.
Happy New Year, all. The Rams are gonna crush Atlanta!
