but it is a heightened disdain.
He was a second round pick and couldn't find the field.
His stats...
16 receptions
244 yds.
2 TDs
What I like...the TD to reception ratio.
What I don't like...Three receptions 69 yds vs. Washington, 44 yds vs. New York Giants and 39 yds vs. Indianapolis total 152 yds. That means he averaged 7 yards a catch on the other 13 receptions. He averaged 1 catch a game.
This is not a budding star. This is not a budding anything. And, if you say he is a project, what in the heck are we doing drafting projects again at the top of the draft?
Puzzling? What's puzzling is reading the same type of posts I read with Robinson...What's puzzling is the same criticism I read with Robinson. "Give him time to develop." If that occurs, we are looking at 2+ years of working with him and with no sign of promise. Didn't we see this with Brian Quick? With Greg Robinson? We don't have 2+ years to deal with a failed pick. Admit your mistakes and go out and get a stud. Keep Watkins, get a stud TE and this offense rolls for the next few years. Gurley would be even more potent.
For those of you who say we did fine this year...did you see our schedule next year? I loved what Baltimore used to do...they were great on defense yet year after year they drafted defense #1. They strengthened their strength. We have other picks and free agency to support the defense. Our best corners in recent memory...Johnson and Jenkiins came out of rounds 3 and 2 respectively.
I understand the need for a NT type guy. But, I have a lot of faith in Wade Philips to do what it takes to fill that position.
I'm certain we will be having further discussions after the Super Bowl.
